Dalaman Airport to Göcek & Dalyan Transfer: Short Rides

Few holiday destinations in Turkey are as close to their airport as Göcek and Dalyan. One is a harbour town full of yachts, the other a river town facing ancient rock tombs, and both are well under an hour from Dalaman. Here is what to expect on each ride, and how they compare with the longer trip to Fethiye.

Opposite directions, similar distance

Dalaman Airport (DLM) sits roughly between the two places, which is why both transfers are so short. Göcek lies east of the airport, on the way towards Fethiye. Dalyan lies west, on the Ortaca side, beside the Dalyan river. The distances are almost the same, about 25 km to Göcek and about 29 km to Dalyan, but the Dalyan ride usually takes a little longer: around 35 minutes against around 25 for Göcek.

That makes either option an easy end to a travel day. You can be through passport control, collect your bags and be unpacking well before an hour has passed, which is a real advantage if you land late in the evening or travel with tired children.

Göcek: arriving in a sailing town

Göcek is a small harbour town set in a sheltered bay west of Fethiye, and its life revolves around boats. Many visitors come here not for a hotel at all but to step aboard a yacht or a gulet for a week on the water. If that is your plan, tell us when you book: give the name of the boat or the charter company and the meeting point you were sent, and the driver will take you as close to the quay as the road allows.

Sailing holidays often mean soft bags, crates of provisions and sometimes diving or fishing gear. There is no luggage fee, and if you are a larger crew a Mercedes Sprinter fits up to sixteen people with all their kit. For prices, see the live table on the Dalaman Airport to Göcek route page, and for more about the area, our Göcek transfer page.

Dalyan: the river town on the other side

Heading west instead, the road runs through the Ortaca area before turning towards Dalyan and the river. The town is known for the Lycian rock tombs carved into the cliffs across the river and for İztuzu beach, a long sandy shore at the river mouth. It has a relaxed, small-town feel, and alongside its hotels many visitors choose rented villas and holiday homes.

If you have booked a villa, send us its location pin or the exact address with your booking. Villa addresses can be hard to describe in words, and an accurate pin lets the driver bring you right to the door rather than to the nearest main road. If the owner has sent you directions or a photo of the gate, forward that as well. Live prices are on the Dalaman Airport to Dalyan route page. Planning what to see once you are there? Our Dalyan and Köyceğiz travel guide is a good starting point.

How they compare with Fethiye and Ölüdeniz

Most people flying into Dalaman continue to the Fethiye area, so it helps to see the short rides in context:

  • Göcek: about 25 km, around 25 minutes
  • Dalyan: about 29 km, around 35 minutes
  • Fethiye town: about 55 km, around 55 minutes
  • Ölüdeniz: about 63 km, around 70 minutes

Göcek is on the same road as Fethiye, at less than half the distance. If you are splitting a holiday between a few nights on a boat and a few nights in a Fethiye hotel, the two places are linked by that same coastal road, and we can arrange the hop between them too. The Dalaman Airport to Fethiye route has its own price table.

Is a private transfer worth it for such a short trip?

It is a fair question when the drive is only half an hour. The answer depends mostly on your group. For two people with light bags, the difference may feel small. For a family with a pushchair and car seats, or a crew of eight joining a boat, a vehicle that is waiting the moment you walk out of arrivals makes the first hour far simpler.

Because our price is fixed per vehicle and not per person, the bigger the group, the more sense it makes. A shared shuttle, by contrast, may stop at several hotels before yours, which can turn a 25-minute trip into a much longer one. With a private transfer the vehicle carries only your group and goes straight to your address.
