Leaving the old lanes for the open sea
Staying in a guesthouse among Kaleiçi's narrow lanes is charming, but sooner or later many guests want a proper day by the sea. Konyaaltı, the long pebble city beach on the west side of Antalya, is the nearest big stretch of coast: about 8 km away, normally roughly 10 minutes by car.
The route leaves the old town, follows the city's main roads towards the west and runs down to the seafront. It is a simple urban drive, so the time depends mostly on city traffic rather than distance.
How the pick-up in Kaleiçi works
Most lanes inside the old walls are closed to ordinary cars, so the driver cannot always come to your guesthouse door. Instead we agree with you on the nearest accessible point — tell us the name of your accommodation when booking and we suggest a practical spot on the edge of the old town.
- Moving out with suitcases? Mention it, and we pick the closest place the car can stop.
- Travelling with a pushchair or small children? Say so, and free child seats will be fitted in advance.
- Coming from a restaurant or the old harbour instead? Give us that as your starting point.
Arriving in Konyaaltı
In Konyaaltı the car can usually go right to the entrance of your hotel or apartment block, or set you down close to the beach if you are just going for the day. Common reasons for the trip:
