Kaleiçi to Fethiye Transfer

Kaleiçi's walled old town has narrow lanes that many vehicles cannot enter, so your driver waits at the closest point a car can reach – usually just a few minutes' walk from your guesthouse. On a drive of this length, many guests prefer an early or mid-morning start so they reach Fethiye in good time for the afternoon.

The distance is about 198 km and the drive normally takes around 3 hours 20 minutes. The usual route heads inland from Antalya over the Taurus mountains and then descends to the Fethiye bay – much shorter than following the coast past Kemer, Kaş and Kalkan. Fethiye itself is a lively harbour town; Ölüdeniz with its lagoon and the long beach at Çalış are close by, and the driver can take you to any of them.

Mountain weather, summer traffic and road works can make the time vary, so plan with some flexibility.

A few days in Kaleiçi – the old harbour, the city walls, the museums – make an ideal first stop before a beach holiday or a walking holiday around Fethiye. Some travellers are touring the whole south-west coast and are simply moving on to the next base. Either way, the private car means no shared shuttle, no luggage transfers between vehicles and nobody else to wait for.

Your Fethiye hotel will usually have the room ready in the afternoon; if you arrive earlier, ask about a luggage room or early check-in. For a break during the drive, mention it when booking.
