Antalya Airport to City & Resorts: Bus, Tram, Taxi or Transfer?

From Antalya Airport (AYT) you can reach the city and the resorts by airport bus, city bus, tram, yellow taxi, tour-operator shuttle or a pre-booked private transfer. Public transport is the budget option for light travellers heading into the city, while a taxi or private transfer takes you straight to your hotel door – the transfer with a price fixed before you land.

The quick answer: which option suits whom?

There is no single right answer – it depends on where you are going, how much luggage you carry and who is travelling with you. As a rule of thumb:

  • Solo traveller, light bag, staying in the city centre: airport bus, city bus or tram can work well.
  • Short hop to Lara or Kundu, no booking made: a yellow taxi from the rank is quick and easy.
  • Package holiday with transfer included: the tour-operator shuttle is already paid for, but expect several hotel stops.
  • Families, groups, golfers, late-night arrivals or resorts further away (Belek, Side, Kemer, Alanya): a pre-booked private transfer is usually the least stressful choice.

Below you will find the honest pros and cons of each option so you can decide before you board your flight.

Airport buses and city buses

Airport shuttle buses connect AYT with the Antalya city centre and with some resort towns along the coast. City public buses also serve the airport area. Both are the most budget-friendly way to leave the airport.

Pros: low cost, no booking needed, fine for travellers with a backpack or a single suitcase.

Cons:

  • They stop at bus stops or bus stations, not at your hotel – you often need a taxi or a walk for the last stretch.
  • Large suitcases, strollers or golf bags can be awkward, especially on city buses.
  • Departures run on a schedule, so after a delayed flight or late at night you may wait a while.
  • Payment methods on city buses can be unfamiliar to visitors.

Routes, timetables and fares change, so check the current information locally or at the airport information desk before relying on a bus.

The tram (AntRay) between the airport and the city

Antalya has a tram network, AntRay, and a tram line links the airport area with the city. For travellers heading to a central address near a tram stop, it can be a practical, low-cost option that avoids road traffic.

Pros: inexpensive, predictable, no traffic jams on the track.

Cons: the tram does not run to the beach resorts such as Belek, Side, Kemer or Alanya, it does not stop at hotel doors, and changing lines with heavy luggage is tiring after a flight. Operating hours and fare systems may also differ from what you are used to.

As with buses, check current routes, operating times and how to pay locally rather than relying on old information online.

Yellow taxis at the rank

Yellow taxis wait outside the arrivals hall at AYT. You simply walk out, join the queue and go. For a short trip to Lara, Kundu or the city centre this is convenient, and many visitors use taxis without any problem.

Pros: available without a booking, door to door, quick for nearby areas.

Cons:

  • Taxis run on the meter, so the final amount depends on distance and traffic – you do not know it in advance.
  • Standard taxis have limited space for big families, lots of luggage or golf bags.
  • Child seats are generally not something you can count on.
  • For long trips to Side, Alanya or Kemer, the metered amount can add up.

Tour-operator shuttles

If you booked a package holiday, a shared shuttle is often included. A rep meets you, and you board a coach with other guests going to the same region.

Pros: already included in your package, no need to arrange anything yourself.

Cons: the coach usually waits until all passengers from several flights are on board, then drops guests at multiple hotels. If your hotel is the last stop, the trip can take much longer than the drive time itself. Return pick-ups are also set by the operator, which can mean leaving the hotel very early.

Pre-booked private transfer

With a private transfer the vehicle is reserved only for you and your group. Our driver meets you in the AYT arrivals hall with a name sign, helps with your luggage and drives you straight to your hotel – no other stops.

  • Fixed price per vehicle, not per person, agreed before the trip and not changed for traffic, night arrival or luggage.
  • No night surcharge and no luggage fee.
  • Flight tracking and free waiting if your flight is delayed.
  • Free child seats on request.
  • Vehicles for every group size: Minivan (1–6), VIP Mercedes-Benz Vito (1–7) and Mercedes Sprinter (8–16) – see the fleet.
  • No prepayment: you pay in the vehicle in cash, or by card if agreed in advance.

You can book 24/7 via WhatsApp or the booking form, and add your return transfer at the same time. For a fixed price on your route, see the live prices on the prices page.

Drive times from Antalya Airport

Typical road distances and drive times from AYT – high-season and city traffic can add time:

  • Lara ≈ 14 km / 20 min, Kundu ≈ 18 km / 26 min, Kaleiçi ≈ 16 km / 25 min, Konyaaltı ≈ 24 km / 35 min
  • Belek ≈ 35 km / 40 min, Kemer ≈ 58 km / 70 min
  • Side ≈ 65 km / 75 min, Manavgat ≈ 70 km / 80 min
  • Alanya ≈ 125 km / ≈ 2 h, Kaş ≈ 200 km / 180 min

The further your resort, the less practical buses and the tram become, and the more a fixed price per vehicle matters. For a popular example, see the Antalya Airport to Side route.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a bus from Antalya Airport to the city centre?

Yes, airport shuttle buses and city buses connect the airport with the city centre. Routes, timetables and fares change, so check the current information locally before you travel.

Can I take the tram from Antalya Airport?

A tram line (AntRay) links the airport area with the city. It suits travellers going to central addresses near a stop; it does not reach the beach resorts.

A pre-booked private transfer takes you door to door without changes or extra stops, which is the easiest option with luggage or children.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

With our private transfer we track your flight and wait free of charge, so your driver is there when you actually land.

Do I have to pay in advance for a private transfer?
