Kemer or Belek: Which Antalya Resort Area Suits You?

Choose Belek if you want long sandy beaches, golf and the shortest airport drive (≈33 km, ≈40 min); choose Kemer if you prefer mountain scenery, clear water over pebbles and a small town with a marina (≈58 km, ≈70 min). Both are reached from Antalya Airport (AYT), but they sit on opposite sides of the city and feel very different.

The short answer

Kemer and Belek are both classic package-holiday names on the Antalya coast, yet they are almost opposites. Kemer lies west of Antalya, squeezed between the Taurus Mountains and the sea. Belek lies east of Antalya, on a flat, wide plain where a long sandy beach runs past pine woods and golf courses.

  • Pick Belek for soft sand, shallow entry into the water, golf, and a quick drive from the airport.
  • Pick Kemer for mountain views from your sunbed, clearer water over pebbles, a walkable town centre and easy trips to ancient sites in the pine forests.

Neither is "better". The right choice depends on who is travelling, what kind of beach you enjoy and how much you plan to explore.

Landscape and beaches

Kemer has the more dramatic setting. Forested slopes rise straight behind the coast, and Mount Tahtalı, one of the highest peaks right on the Mediterranean shore, is visible from much of the area. Beaches here are mostly pebble or a mix of pebble and coarse sand. The upside is water that stays clear and blue; the downside is that small children and anyone with sensitive feet will want water shoes.

Belek is all about the horizon. The shoreline is long, sandy and gently shelving, which makes it easy for paddling toddlers and for long walks at sunset. Behind the beach you find pine woods and the green fairways that gave Belek its reputation as Turkey's golf capital. There are no mountains right behind you, but on clear days you can see the Taurus range in the distance.

Drive times from Antalya Airport

Belek is the shorter, simpler ride: the road runs east along a straight, flat highway. Kemer is further, and the last part follows the coastal road west through the city and along the mountains, so traffic in Antalya itself can add time in high season.

  • Kadriye: ≈ 29 km, ≈ 33 min
  • Belek: ≈ 33 km, ≈ 40 min
  • Boğazkent: ≈ 43 km, ≈ 46 min
  • Beldibi: ≈ 42 km, ≈ 48 min
  • Göynük: ≈ 49 km, ≈ 60 min
  • Kemer: ≈ 58 km, ≈ 70 min
  • Kiriş / Çamyuva: ≈ 66–68 km, ≈ 75–77 min
  • Tekirova: ≈ 75 km, ≈ 85 min

After a late flight with tired children, forty minutes versus well over an hour can matter. Live fixed prices for each area are on the Antalya Airport to Belek and Antalya Airport to Kemer pages.

Who Belek suits

Golfers. Belek has the largest cluster of golf courses on the Turkish coast, and many hotels sit right next to them. If golf is the reason for the trip, Belek is the obvious base; our Belek golf transfer guide explains how to plan airport and course rides with golf bags.

Families with small children. The sandy, shallow beach is the biggest argument. The short airport transfer helps too, and Land of Legends theme park is close by in Kadriye.

All-inclusive holidays. Belek is largely a resort strip: the hotels are spread along the beach rather than around a town centre. That suits people who want to stay inside the hotel, but it means less to walk to in the evening.

History fans on short outings. The Roman theatre of Aspendos and the ancient city of Perge are both within easy reach.

Who Kemer suits

Couples and active travellers. Kemer town has a marina, a seafront promenade and a pedestrian centre with shops and restaurants, so you can leave the hotel in the evening on foot.

Nature lovers. The hills behind the coast are covered in pine forest, with hiking paths and quiet valleys. The cable car up Mount Tahtalı, the ruins of Phaselis among the pines and the beach at Çıralı and Olympos are all nearby; see our Kemer region guide.

Snorkellers and swimmers. Pebble beaches mean less sand in the water and good visibility.

Travellers who prefer a choice of styles. The Kemer coast is a chain of different places: Beldibi and Göynük are closer to Antalya, Kiriş, Çamyuva and Tekirova lie further south, each with its own feel.

Practical differences to weigh

  • Getting into the city: Belek is closer to the airport, but both are similar for a day out in Antalya old town (Kaleiçi). Kemer approaches the city from the west through Konyaaltı, Belek from the east via Lara.
  • Weather: Both share the same Mediterranean climate. Sea temperatures and the length of the season are about the same on both sides of the city.
  • Day trips: From Belek, Side and the Manavgat waterfall are an easy run east. From Kemer, the coast further south towards Olympos and Kaş opens up.
  • Evenings: Kemer has a real town to wander. In Belek, the evening usually happens inside the resort.

Getting there with a private transfer

Whichever you choose, our transfers work the same way. The driver meets you in the AYT arrivals hall with a name sign, your flight is tracked, and waiting is free if it lands late. The price is fixed per vehicle, not per person, and agreed before the trip: no night surcharge, no luggage fee, free child seats on request. Choose a Minivan (1–6 people), a VIP Mercedes-Benz Vito (1–7) or a Mercedes Sprinter (8–16).

You get a fixed-price quote within 1 minute, there is no prepayment, you pay in the vehicle, and cancellation is free. You can also book the return trip at the same time. Send your flight details through the booking form or on WhatsApp, 24/7.
