The Bodrum peninsula points west into the Aegean, and its far end has two quite different faces. Yalıkavak is on the north-west coast, a harbour town built around a marina. Turgutreis sits right on the western tip, another marina town known for watching the sun go down over the sea. Akyarlar is around the corner on the south-west tip.
On a map they look close together, and in a sense they are, but they are separate towns with their own approach roads. When you book, the village name alone is not always enough: send the full address of your villa or apartment, especially if it is up a hillside lane above the bay. That way the driver goes straight to the gate instead of circling the harbour.
