Side to Lara Transfer

Both ends of this trip are sandy-beach resorts, but they feel quite different. Side is a small ancient town with ruins by the sea; Lara is a long strip of large hotels on the eastern side of Antalya, close to the city. The distance is about 76 km and the drive normally takes around 80 minutes. The car heads west on the D400, passes the turn-offs for Belek and the Aksu area, and then branches off towards the coast to Lara, so you do not have to cross the city centre.

The busiest moments are summer weekends and changeover days, when many holidaymakers are on the move at the same time, and the afternoon rush on the approach to Antalya. Outside those times the journey is usually smooth.

Plenty of travellers book two different hotels for one holiday: a first week near the beaches and ruins of Side, then a second in Lara, nearer to Antalya's shopping centres, the old town of Kaleiçi and the airport for the flight home. Families also use this transfer to join relatives staying in Lara, and some guests simply go for a day of shopping in the city.

To keep the changeover relaxed, leave Side after a leisurely breakfast. Rooms in Lara are usually ready in the afternoon, so ask the hotel whether you can store your bags or check in early. Everything you brought travels in the same car as you.

You have the vehicle to yourselves. The Minivan takes up to 6 passengers and suits most couples and families; the VIP Mercedes-Benz Vito seats up to 7 with extra comfort; the Mercedes Sprinter is for groups of 8–16. Child seats are free – just tell us the children's ages when you book.

For a day out from Side, book the return at the same time and agree when you want to be picked up in Lara for the ride back.
