West along the coast, then through Antalya
Side sits on a small peninsula east of Antalya, with Roman ruins right beside the beaches. Konyaaltı is on the far western side of the city, so this transfer covers the whole stretch in between: about 82 km, which usually takes around 80 minutes. The car follows the D400 west, past the Belek area and Aksu, and then crosses Antalya to reach the long pebble beach below the mountains.
The motorway part is generally steady; the city section is where time can vary. Rush hour in the morning and late afternoon, and busy summer weekends, can easily add a quarter of an hour, so build in a cushion if you have a dinner reservation or a meeting to reach.
Two kinds of holiday in one trip
This route is popular with travellers who want both sides of the Antalya coast: a relaxed beach week around Side, then a few days in Konyaaltı to explore the city – the narrow lanes of Kaleiçi, the old harbour, the museums and the shops. Others do it in reverse at the end of a city stay, or travel to Konyaaltı to visit friends or relatives who live in Antalya.
Moving hotels takes a little planning. Check-out in Side is normally in the morning, while rooms in Konyaaltı are usually ready in the afternoon. A late-morning departure often works well; ask your new hotel about storing luggage or checking in early.
Comfort on the road
Nobody else shares your car and there are no detours to other hotels. For couples and families the Minivan (1–6 passengers) is the usual choice; the VIP Mercedes-Benz Vito (1–7) adds comfort for the longer ride, and the Mercedes Sprinter takes groups of 8–16. Every bag travels with you, and child seats are free when requested.
A day trip from Side to Konyaaltı and back is possible, but with well over two and a half hours on the road in total, it suits travellers who do not mind a long day. Agree the return pick-up time before you set off.
