A long drive west to the Lycian coast
This is one of the longest trips we run from the Lara side: about 218 km, usually around 3 hours 45 minutes. From Kundu the driver first crosses Antalya, then heads west, leaving the busy resort coast behind for the Taurus highlands before descending towards the Gulf of Fethiye. Traffic in the city, summer weekends and road works can all change the timing, so plan with some flexibility.
Fethiye is a harbour town at the western edge of the region, known for boat trips around its bay, Lycian rock tombs above the town and the lagoon at Ölüdeniz nearby. It has a very different feel from the big resort hotels at Kundu, which is exactly why many guests split their stay between the two.
Two holidays in one: planning the move
A common plan is a week of sandy beaches in Lara, then a week of coves and boat days in Fethiye. Because the drive takes most of a morning or an afternoon, timing matters more than on shorter transfers:
- Hotels usually have rooms ready in the afternoon, so a morning departure from Kundu often works well.
- If you need to leave early, ask your Fethiye hotel about a luggage room or early check-in.
- All suitcases travel with you in the same vehicle, from one door to the other.
Comfort on a longer journey
For a drive of nearly four hours, space makes a difference. Couples and small families travel comfortably in a Minivan (1–6 passengers). Many guests choose the VIP Mercedes-Benz Vito (1–7) for extra legroom on this distance, and larger groups travel together in a Mercedes Sprinter (8–16). Free child seats are available on request; just tell us the children's ages.
