Phaselis Ancient City Transfer: How to Get There by Car

Phaselis was founded by colonists from Rhodes and grew into a busy trading port on the coast of Lycia. Its ruins lie on a small peninsula between Kemer and Tekirova, inside the Olympos Beydağları National Park, surrounded by pine forest and turquoise water.

The city had three harbours – north, central and south – and a broad paved main street runs across the peninsula between them, lined with the remains of baths, an agora and a small theatre. A section of a Roman aqueduct still stands near the entrance, and Alexander the Great is said to have spent a winter here. What makes Phaselis special is the setting: you can walk among the ruins and then swim in the clear bays right beside them.

From Antalya Airport (AYT) the drive is about 75 km and takes roughly 1 h 45 min, crossing Antalya and following the D400 south along the Kemer coast. Phaselis is very close to Tekirova and a short drive from Çamyuva, Kiriş and Kemer; from Göynük and Beldibi allow a little longer, and from Lara or Belek you first cross the city.

A short road leads from the main highway through the pines to the site. Our driver drops you at the entrance or the nearest point the vehicle can reach, and picks you up there at the agreed time.

In summer, come early in the morning or in the late afternoon: the shade of the pines helps, but the paved street and the theatre are hot at midday. Plan an hour or two for the ruins, more if you want to swim.
