Lara, Kundu, Konyaaltı or Kaleiçi: Where to Stay in Antalya

Choose Lara or Kundu for a beach-and-resort holiday close to the airport, Kaleiçi for a city break in the historic old town, and Konyaaltı for a long pebble beach with the city on your doorstep. All four are within about 35 minutes of Antalya Airport, so the right choice depends on the kind of holiday you want rather than on the transfer.

The four areas at a glance

Antalya is not just one resort – the city stretches along the coast, and each part has a very different character:

  • Lara: the hotel strip east of the city centre with a sandy beach, about 14 km / 20 min from the airport.
  • Kundu: right next to Lara, known for its large themed resort hotels, about 18 km / 26 min from the airport.
  • Kaleiçi: the historic old town around the old harbour, with boutique hotels and narrow lanes, about 16 km / 25 min from the airport.
  • Konyaaltı: a long pebble beach west of the centre, about 24 km / 35 min from the airport.

Drive times are typical; in high season and in city traffic they can be longer. Below we look at each area in more detail and at who it suits best.

Lara: sandy beach, close to the airport

Lara is the area most visitors picture when they think of a beach holiday in Antalya city: a line of hotels along a sandy shore, east of the centre. Its biggest practical advantage is the short distance to the airport – roughly 20 minutes by road, so even a late arrival does not eat into your holiday.

Lara suits:

  • Families who want a sandy beach and a short transfer with tired children.
  • Travellers on a short stay who don't want to lose half a day on the road.
  • Anyone who wants a resort holiday but still likes the option of a trip into the city.

The city centre and Kaleiçi are a short drive away, so a day in the old town is easy to fit in. See the route details on Antalya Airport to Lara.

Kundu: big themed resorts next to Lara

Kundu continues where Lara ends and is known for its large themed resort hotels, many of them designed to look like famous buildings or landmarks. It feels more like a self-contained resort zone than a neighbourhood – most guests spend their days at the hotel and the beach.

Kundu suits:

  • Families and groups who want a big resort experience close to the airport.
  • Guests who plan to stay mostly at the hotel and do not need to walk into town.

At about 18 km / 26 min from the airport, the transfer is still very short. Because many Kundu hotels are large complexes, it helps to give us the exact hotel name when you book so the driver goes straight to the right entrance. Route details: Antalya Airport to Kundu.

Kaleiçi: the historic old town

Kaleiçi is Antalya's old town: winding lanes, restored historic houses turned into boutique hotels and guesthouses, and the old harbour below the city walls. It is the place to stay if you want atmosphere, cafés and sightseeing on foot rather than a sunbed by the pool.

Kaleiçi suits:

  • Couples and city-break travellers.
  • Visitors who want to explore the city, museums and restaurants.
  • Travellers combining a few days in town with a beach stay elsewhere.

Transfer tip: many lanes in Kaleiçi are narrow or closed to traffic, so vehicles cannot always reach the door of every guesthouse. In that case the driver drops you at the nearest accessible point and you walk the last stretch. If you travel with heavy suitcases, ask your hotel in advance where the best drop-off point is and let us know when you book. The drive from the airport is about 16 km / 25 min – see Antalya Airport to Kaleiçi.

Konyaaltı: long pebble beach west of the centre

Konyaaltı is the long pebble beach on the western side of the city, with a promenade, parks and the mountains as a backdrop. The Antalya Museum and the cable car area are on this side of town too. It combines a beach holiday with city life: you can swim in the morning and be in the centre for dinner.

Konyaaltı suits:

  • Travellers who prefer clear water and don't mind pebbles.
  • Those who want a city hotel or apartment with the beach within walking distance.
  • Visitors planning trips towards Kemer and the western coast.

Konyaaltı is the furthest of the four from the airport – about 24 km / 35 min – because the route crosses the city. Allow extra time at busy hours, especially on your departure day.

Which area suits you?

  • Families with small children: Lara or Kundu – sandy beach and the shortest transfer. Our article on travelling to Antalya with babies has more tips.
  • Couples and city-break travellers: Kaleiçi for its atmosphere, or Konyaaltı for beach plus city.
  • All-inclusive resort fans: Kundu or Lara.
  • Active travellers and explorers: Kaleiçi or Konyaaltı, as a base for day trips.
  • Short stays and late flights: Lara, thanks to the short drive.

You can also split your stay – for example two nights in Kaleiçi followed by a week on the beach. We can arrange the transfer between hotels as well as to and from the airport.

Transfers to all four areas

Whichever area you choose, our private transfer works the same way: the driver meets you in the arrivals hall at Antalya Airport with a name sign, we track your flight and wait free of charge if it is delayed, and you pay a fixed price per vehicle, not per person, agreed before the trip. There is no night surcharge and no luggage fee, and child seats are free on request.

Choose a Minivan (1–6), VIP Mercedes-Benz Vito (1–7) or Mercedes Sprinter (8–16) depending on your group, and book your return transfer at the same time. Book 24/7 via WhatsApp or the booking form; you pay in the vehicle, with no prepayment.
