Safe Airport Transfer in Antalya: What to Check Before Booking

A safe Antalya transfer is run by a company holding a D2 transfer permit from the Ministry of Transport, with compulsory road insurance plus passenger seat insurance, and a fixed price per vehicle agreed in writing before you fly. Add a driver waiting in arrivals with your name on a sign and someone you can actually reach on WhatsApp, and you have covered the essentials.

The short checklist

Before you pay attention to the car model or the photos on a website, check five things. They take a few minutes and they tell you far more about a transfer company than any advert.

  1. A D2 transfer permit issued by the Ministry of Transport to the company carrying you.
  2. Insurance: the compulsory road insurance for the vehicle and passenger seat insurance on top.
  3. A fixed price per vehicle, written down in a message, not just said on the phone.
  4. A clear meeting point: a driver in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name, and flight tracking so a delay does not leave you stranded.
  5. A real contact: a phone number or WhatsApp that answers, before and during the trip.

If one of these is missing or vague, ask. A company that runs things properly will answer without hesitation.

What the D2 permit is and why it matters

In Turkey, companies that carry passengers commercially on transfer and tourism routes need an authorisation from the Ministry of Transport. For transfer firms this is the D2 permit. It is the line between a registered operator and someone using a private car to earn extra money at the airport.

You do not need to understand the paperwork in detail. What matters for you as a passenger is simple: the company should be able to tell you that it holds a D2 permit when you ask. A short, confident answer is a good sign. A change of subject, or "all drivers do this, no problem", is not.

The permit also comes with obligations around vehicles and insurance, which is why it is the first thing worth asking about.

Insurance: two layers, not one

Every vehicle on Turkish roads must carry compulsory road insurance. That is the minimum. For passenger transport there is a second layer that matters more to you: passenger seat insurance, which covers the people sitting in the vehicle.

When you compare offers, it is fair to ask both questions directly: "Is the vehicle insured?" and "Is there passenger seat insurance?" Travelling with children, older parents or a larger group makes this question even more relevant, because a Sprinter with sixteen seats should be covered for sixteen people.

Your own travel insurance is still worth having, but it does not replace the operator's cover. Check your own policy wording for road transport abroad.

The price: per vehicle, fixed, in writing

Not every transfer problem is about safety; some are about money that changes on the day. You can avoid that with one habit: get the price in writing before you travel.

  • Per vehicle, not per person. A per-person quote can quietly grow when an extra child or a large suitcase appears.
  • Fixed. The agreed amount should not change for traffic, a late-night landing or extra luggage.
  • Written. A WhatsApp message with the date, route, vehicle type and price is perfect; you can show it to the driver if needed.

Our current prices are on the prices page, and the private transfer vs taxi guide explains why a fixed price differs from a metered ride.

At the airport: name sign, flight tracking, a contact

A safe pick-up is also an organised one. When you leave baggage reclaim at Antalya Airport (AYT), you should see a driver in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name. You should never have to walk around the car park looking for "someone from the company".

Flight tracking is the second part. If the company follows your flight number, a delay simply moves the pick-up time; nobody leaves, and you are not asked to pay for waiting. Give your flight number when you book, not only the landing time.

Finally, keep the company's WhatsApp open. If your phone has data on landing, a short message such as "landed, waiting for luggage" helps the driver plan, and you have a person to contact if anything is unclear.

Red flags to walk away from

  • Ride offers inside the arrivals hall. People approaching you with "taxi, transfer, cheap?" are not the driver you booked. Your driver holds your name, not a general offer.
  • Per-person prices that keep moving. If the number changes between the first message and the confirmation, expect it to change again in the car.
  • Cash demanded before the trip. Being asked to pay in full before anyone has picked you up, especially to a personal account, is a warning sign.
  • No written confirmation. "Just come out, we will find you" is not a booking.
  • Evasive answers when you ask about the permit or insurance.
  • A different vehicle class than agreed, for example a crowded car instead of the minivan you confirmed for six people and their luggage.

If something feels wrong on arrival, it is fine to say no and call the company you booked with.

How we run our own transfers

To be transparent, this is our own setup, limited to what we can state plainly. We hold a D2 transfer permit from the Ministry of Transport, and our vehicles carry compulsory road insurance and passenger seat insurance. We only do private transfers, never shared shuttles.

You get a fixed price per vehicle within a minute of your request, agreed before the trip and not changed for traffic, night hours or luggage. There is no prepayment: you pay in the vehicle, in cash, or by card if agreed in advance. Cancellation is free. Our driver meets you in arrivals with a name sign, and we track your flight so a delay costs you nothing extra.

The fleet is a Minivan (1–6), a VIP Mercedes-Benz Vito (1–7) and a Mercedes Sprinter (8–16), with free child seats on request. You can book online or on WhatsApp; more answers are in our FAQ.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a D2 permit?

It is the authorisation from Turkey's Ministry of Transport that commercial transfer and tourism passenger operators need. Ask the company whether it holds one before you book.

Which insurance should a transfer have?

Compulsory road insurance for the vehicle and passenger seat insurance covering the people inside. Ask about both; a serious operator answers straight away.

Is it safe to take a ride from someone in the arrivals hall?

We advise against it. Book in advance and look for the driver holding a sign with your name; ignore general ride offers inside the terminal.

Why should the price be per vehicle?

A per-vehicle price does not grow with an extra child or suitcase. Get it fixed and in writing, for example in a WhatsApp message.

Do I have to pay before the transfer with you?

No. There is no prepayment; you pay in the vehicle in cash, or by card if agreed in advance, and cancellation is free.

What happens if my flight is late?

We track your flight, so the pick-up moves with the delay. Waiting is free and the agreed price stays the same.

Is the transfer private or shared?

All our transfers are 100% private; the vehicle is dedicated to your group only, with no other passengers.

Is the price per person or per vehicle?

The price is per vehicle. One passenger or six pay the same fare in the same vehicle.

What happens if my flight is delayed?

We track your flight live and adjust the pickup time to the new landing time, free of charge.

Is prepayment required?

No, standard bookings need no prepayment; you can pay the driver at the end of the transfer.
