Before you book: choosing flight times and the area

With a baby, the clock matters more than the destination. If you can choose, pick a flight that fits around the main nap rather than one that lands close to midnight. A morning departure from home often means your baby sleeps on the plane and you arrive in daylight with time to settle in.

The area you stay in decides how long the last leg of the day will be. From Antalya Airport, Lara is about 14 km (≈20 min), Belek about 33 km (≈40 min), Side about 65 km (≈75 min) and Alanya about 125 km (≈120 min). For a first trip with a very young baby, a shorter ride can make the arrival evening much easier. If you are still deciding, our comparison of Lara and Belek helps.

  • Ask the hotel in advance whether a cot can be placed in the room.
  • Check your airline's rules on pushchairs, car seats and baby food in hand luggage.
  • Make sure every passport, including the baby's, is valid for your trip.

The flight day: keeping it calm

Most stress on travel day comes from waiting, not from flying. A few habits keep things predictable:

  • Pack a separate baby bag for the cabin with nappies, wipes, two changes of clothes for the baby and one top for you.
  • Feed or offer a dummy during take-off and landing; swallowing often helps with the pressure change in the ears.
  • Bring familiar things: the same sleeping bag, a favourite toy and the usual blanket make a strange place feel safer.
  • Dress in layers. Aircraft cabins can be cool, while Antalya on arrival can be very warm.

Keep the pushchair with you to the aircraft door if your airline allows it. On arrival in Antalya, you will usually collect it at the door or with the checked bags, so allow a few extra minutes in the baggage hall.

Heat and sun on the Turkish Riviera

Summer in Antalya is hot and sunny, and July and August are the most intense months. Babies cannot cool themselves as well as adults, so plan the day around the heat:

  • Spend the late morning and early afternoon in the shade or indoors, and enjoy the beach and pool in the early morning and late afternoon.
  • Use a wide-brimmed hat, light long sleeves and a sunshade for the pushchair that does not block airflow.
  • Offer drinks often, and watch for signs that your baby is too warm.
  • Ask your own doctor or pharmacist before the trip about sun protection suitable for your baby's age.

Spring and autumn are milder and often easier with a small child. Our page on the best time to visit Antalya compares the seasons.

Sleep in a new place

The first night decides the mood of the whole week. Try to recreate home as closely as you can:

  • Keep the same bedtime routine: bath, feed, song, lights off. Babies react more to the routine than to the room.
  • Pack a travel blackout blind or a few clips to close gaps in the curtains; summer evenings stay bright.
  • A small portable white-noise device can cover corridor noise in a busy hotel.
  • Air conditioning helps, but avoid pointing it straight at the cot.

If you land late, do not fight it. Feed, change into pyjamas in the car if needed and transfer straight to bed. Tomorrow you can start the normal rhythm.

Packing list that actually helps

You can buy most everyday baby items in Antalya, so pack for the first two days and the things your baby will not accept a substitute for:

  • Nappies and wipes for at least 48 hours.
  • The usual formula or food, since brands may differ locally.
  • Any medicines your baby already uses, with the prescription.
  • A thermometer, a light muslin and a lightweight sleeping bag.
  • A swim nappy, UV clothing and a hat.
  • A compact pushchair that folds quickly; old town streets and promenades are easier with small wheels than with a large frame.

Keep the documents, medicines and one day of supplies in hand luggage, not in the checked suitcase.

From the airport to the hotel with a baby

After passport control and baggage claim, you want the shortest possible wait. With a pre-booked private transfer, a driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign. If your flight is delayed, the flight is tracked and waiting is free, so you do not need to rush or call anyone with a crying baby on your arm.

  • Child seats are free on request: tell us the baby's age and weight when booking so the right seat is fitted before pick-up.
  • The pushchair, travel cot and extra bags travel free; there is no luggage fee.
  • The price is fixed per vehicle before the trip and does not change for traffic or a night arrival.
  • You pay in the vehicle, with no prepayment.

Read more about seats and age groups in our guide to the transfer with a baby and child seats. For larger families, a VIP Vito (up to 7) or a Sprinter (8–16) leaves room for the pushchair.

During the stay and on the way home

Plan only one outing per day and keep it near nap time, so your baby can sleep in the car or pushchair. Short trips work best: the old town of Kaleiçi, a seaside promenade or a park are easy half-days. For ideas suitable for small children, see Antalya with kids.

On the last day, ask reception about a late check-out so the baby can nap before the flight. Book the return transfer together with the arrival one; the driver collects you at the hotel at the agreed time, with the child seat already fitted. Allow generous time for check-in, because queues with a pushchair always take longer than you expect.
