Best Time to Visit Antalya: A Season-by-Season Guide

For most travellers the best time to visit Antalya is September to October, when the sea is still warm and the summer crowds have thinned, with April to May a close second for sightseeing and golf. July and August are the hottest and busiest months, while November to March is mild, quiet and good value for walking and culture rather than beach days.

Antalya's seasons at a glance

Antalya has a classic Mediterranean climate: long, hot, dry summers and short, mild, wetter winters. The beach season is long, but each part of the year feels very different. Here is the quick version:

  • April – May: green landscapes, pleasant warmth, ideal for walking, ruins and golf; the sea is still fresh.
  • June: properly warm, the sea is warming up, school holidays have not fully started in many countries.
  • July – August: the hottest, sunniest and busiest months; resorts are full and the roads are at their busiest.
  • September – October: warm sea, softer heat, fewer families; many regular visitors call this the best period.
  • November – March: mild winter, quiet resorts, some hotels closed, good for the old town, museums and nature.

Spring (April–May): green, mild and ideal for exploring

Spring is when the coast and the Taurus Mountains behind it are at their greenest. Days are comfortably warm and evenings can still be cool, so a light jacket is useful. It is the most pleasant time for long walks in Kaleiçi, the old town, for the ancient sites around Side, Perge and Aspendos, and for a ride up the Tahtalı cable car while the mountain views are clear.

Spring is also a favourite season for golfers in Belek: courses are green and the heat of midsummer is still weeks away. Swimming is possible for hardy swimmers, especially by late May, but most people find the sea fresh. Hotels are open and resorts are lively without being crowded.

Early summer (June): warm days, sea warming up

June is a sweet spot for a beach holiday. It is reliably sunny and warm, the sea has warmed up enough for long swims, and many families are still waiting for school holidays to begin. Beaches in Lara, Konyaaltı, Side and Alanya are busy but not packed.

The middle of the day already gets hot, so plan sightseeing for the morning or late afternoon. If you want summer weather with a bit more breathing room than July and August, June is a very good choice.

July and August: hottest, busiest, plan around the heat

This is peak season. School holidays across much of the continent and in Turkey bring the most visitors of the year, hotels are full and the best rooms go early. The sun is strong and the heat in the middle of the day is intense, especially away from the sea.

  • Do sightseeing early in the morning or late in the afternoon; spend midday at the beach, the pool or indoors.
  • Drink plenty of water, use high-factor sun cream and wear a hat.
  • Popular spots such as the Düden and Manavgat waterfalls are busiest in the middle of the day.
  • Book hotels, excursions and transfers early.

September and October: warm sea, fewer crowds

Many people who know Antalya well choose autumn. After a whole summer of sunshine the sea is at its warmest, while the air becomes gentler, especially in the evenings. Once schools restart, the number of families drops and beaches, restaurants and excursions feel more relaxed.

September still feels like summer; October is milder, with the occasional rainy day becoming more likely towards the end of the month. It is a great time for couples, golfers, walkers and anyone who wants both beach days and sightseeing in one trip. Side, Belek, Kemer and Alanya all stay busy into October, so do not expect empty resorts.

November to March: mild, quiet winter

Winter in Antalya is mild compared with northern countries, but it is not a beach season for most people. Rain falls mainly in these months, the snow-capped Taurus peaks are visible from the city, and sunny days are perfect for walking. Many large all-inclusive resorts close for part of the winter, while city hotels and some resort hotels stay open.

It is a good season for longer stays, golf, Kaleiçi, museums and the ancient sites without crowds. Read our winter and off-season guide for what to expect and how to choose an open area.

What the season means for your airport transfer

Your choice of month also affects the roads. On summer weekends and on typical hotel changeover days, many flights land and leave at the same time and the coastal roads to Belek, Side, Alanya and Kemer get busy. The drive from the airport to Side is typically ≈ 75 min and to Alanya ≈ 2 h, but high-season traffic can add time.

  • Allow extra time to the airport in July and August; see when to leave your hotel for the airport.
  • Book early in peak season, and book the return at the same time.
  • We track your flight, so a delayed landing is not a problem: the driver waits for you in arrivals with a name sign, with no extra charge for waiting.

Our price is fixed per vehicle and agreed before the trip: it does not change for traffic, night arrivals or luggage. Check the current fares on the prices page and book any time via WhatsApp or the booking form.
