İzmir's airport (ADB) lies south of the city, which is handy: you do not need to cross İzmir to head for Ephesus. From the terminal the car joins the motorway and heads south. Selçuk comes first, after about 55 km and around 50 minutes. Kuşadası is on the coast roughly 20 minutes beyond Selçuk, so the full drive is about 75 km and around 70 minutes. Live prices per vehicle are on İzmir Airport to Selçuk and İzmir Airport to Kuşadası.

The route in one paragraph
Selçuk or Kuşadası as your base?
Both work for Ephesus, but they suit different trips.
Selçuk is a small, low-key town right next to the ancient site. If Ephesus is the main reason for your visit and you want to be close to the ruins, Selçuk keeps everything within a short distance. It also makes a good starting point for the hillside sights around it.
Kuşadası is a larger coastal town with beaches and a cruise port. It suits travellers who want sea and sightseeing in the same week: a day at Ephesus, then days by the water. Families often prefer it for that reason.
Since the two towns are only about 20 minutes apart, the choice is less final than it looks. Staying in one and visiting the other is easy.
What lies around Selçuk
The main draw is ancient Ephesus itself, on the edge of town. A few other places sit close by and are often combined with it:
- The House of the Virgin Mary, on the wooded hillside above the area, a place of pilgrimage for many visitors.
- Şirince, a hill village above Selçuk with old houses and a slower pace, popular for a few relaxed hours.
Our Ephesus and Kuşadası travel guide covers the sights in more depth.
A sample first day for Ephesus visitors
Many travellers land in İzmir with one clear goal: to see Ephesus. Because Selçuk is only around 50 minutes from the terminal, a morning arrival can leave the afternoon free. A typical plan looks like this:
- Land and meet your driver in arrivals, then head straight south on the motorway.
- Check in at your hotel in Selçuk or Kuşadası and drop the luggage, so you do not carry suitcases around the sights.
- Rest, eat and get your bearings on the first evening, then start the ancient city fresh the next morning, when you have a whole day for it.
If you arrive late in the evening, nothing changes on our side: there is no night surcharge, and the driver follows your flight so a delay does not leave you stranded. The quiet roads at night often make the drive feel shorter.
Travelling with grandparents or small children? Mention it when booking. Child seats are free on request, and a roomier vehicle can be sent if you need space for a wheelchair or pushchair.
Arriving by plane, leaving by ship (or the other way round)
Kuşadası's cruise port means some travellers combine a flight with a cruise. If you fly into İzmir to join a ship, or leave a ship to fly home, a private transfer links the airport and the port directly. Tell us your flight number and, for the port leg, the ship's departure or arrival time so the pickup can be planned around it. For departure flights, allow enough time for the drive of around 70 minutes plus check-in at the airport.
The same planning helps if you are staying in Selçuk: around 50 minutes on the road means a hotel pickup can be timed comfortably before your flight.
Not the same direction as Çeşme
A common mix-up: Çeşme and Alaçatı are also reached from İzmir Airport, but they lie west of the city, in the opposite direction to Ephesus. Çeşme is about 85 km and around 70 minutes from the airport, Alaçatı about 78 km and around 65 minutes. If you are planning to see both coasts on one trip, treat them as separate journeys rather than stops on one road. Our İzmir Airport transfer guide gives an overview of all the main destinations.
What to expect from the private transfer
- Meeting point: your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign. The flight is tracked, and waiting for a delayed flight is free.
- Only your group: no shared shuttle, no stops at other hotels; door to door from the terminal to Selçuk or Kuşadası.
- Clear price: fixed per vehicle, not per person, quoted within a minute on WhatsApp or by e-mail. No night surcharge, no luggage fee.
- Payment: nothing in advance. You pay in the vehicle, in cash, or by card if agreed when booking. Cancellation is free.
- Children: child seats are free on request; please give the children's ages when booking.
We operate with a D2 transfer permit from the Ministry of Transport, and passengers are covered by seat insurance.
Choosing the vehicle
The fleet has no sedans; every transfer uses a van with room for luggage. A Minivan carries 1-6 passengers, a VIP Mercedes-Benz Vito 1-7, and a Mercedes Sprinter 8-16, which suits tour groups or families travelling together. Large suitcases, pushchairs and extra bags are no problem; just mention them when booking so the right vehicle is sent. Area pages: Kuşadası transfers and Selçuk transfers.
