Perge Transfer from Antalya Airport

Perge was one of the great cities of ancient Pamphylia, and its ruins spread across the plain at Aksu, just east of Antalya. Visitors walk through the old city gates with their round towers, along a long colonnaded street lined with columns, and past the remains of baths, a market square and houses. Outside the walls are a large stadium and a theatre built against the hillside.

Because so much of the street plan survives, Perge is one of the best places on this coast to imagine what a Roman city felt like. It is also one of the easiest sights to reach, being so close to both the airport and the city, which makes it popular with travellers who have only a few hours to spare.

Perge is one of the closest sights to the airport: about 11 km, around 20 minutes by road. The drive goes east from the terminal along the main roads towards Aksu and ends at the site entrance. From the hotels of Lara and Kundu it is a short trip as well; guests in Belek reach it quickly along the coastal highway, while from Kemer or Side it fits best into a longer day out.

If you head there straight from a flight, your driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign and helps with the luggage. We track your flight and waiting on delays is free. A private vehicle means no shared shuttle and no detours for other passengers.

There is no regular taxi rank at the ruins, so the simplest way is a private car with driver. Tell us your plan and we tell you what is possible:

• Driver waits – walk through the gates, the colonnaded street and the stadium, then continue together to your next stop.
• Return at an agreed time – the driver drops you and comes back when you are ready.
• Before or after a flight – with an evening departure, some travellers spend a few hours at Perge on the way to the airport; tell us your flight time and we plan around it.

The site is open ground with little shade, so a hat, water and comfortable shoes make the walk much more pleasant, especially for children.

Perge is often the first stop of a longer day east of Antalya:

• Aspendos – the famous Roman theatre near Serik, a natural pair with Perge.
• Kursunlu waterfall – a green nature park with a waterfall, also in the Aksu area.
• Lower Duden waterfall – where the river falls from the cliffs into the sea on the Lara side.
• Kaleici – Antalya's walled old town, for an evening stroll on the way back.

From Perge the airport is only around 20 minutes away, but plan to be there about 2.5–3 hours before an international flight — check your airline's advice. With a flight at 19:00, for example, you could visit Perge in the early afternoon and be dropped at the terminal around 16:00. Book both directions together and your return is arranged in advance.
