Quick answer: a good rainy-day plan

Rain in Antalya usually comes in spring, autumn and above all winter, and it rarely lasts all day. The trick is to have one indoor anchor for the wettest hours and something flexible for when the sky clears. A simple plan that works for most travellers:

  1. Morning: Antalya Aquarium or the Antalya Museum – both indoors and easy to spend a few hours in.
  2. Lunch: a shopping centre with a food court, or a restaurant in Kaleiçi.
  3. Afternoon: coffee and a stroll through the covered bazaar streets near the old town, or a relaxing hammam.
  4. If it clears: a quick visit to the Düden waterfalls, which are fuller after rain.

If you are staying in Belek, Side or Kemer, the same ideas work – they just need a slightly longer drive into the city. Ask for a private car with driver for the day and agree the pick-up and return times when booking.

Antalya Aquarium: the classic indoor choice

The Antalya Aquarium in Konyaaltı is the first place many families think of when the weather turns. It is a large aquarium where you walk through tunnels with fish swimming around and above you, so children and adults alike can easily spend half a day there. Because everything is under one roof, the rain simply does not matter.

From Lara or Kaleiçi it is a short drive across the city; from Belek or Kemer allow more time. Check the current opening times before you go. Our Antalya Aquarium guide has more tips for planning the visit.

Shopping centres and the Land of Legends shopping avenue

Antalya has several large shopping centres where you can spend a wet day with shops, cafés and restaurants under one roof. The best known include TerraCity, MarkAntalya and Mall of Antalya. They are also a practical stop if you need things you forgot to pack, from a light jacket to a phone charger.

If you stay in Belek or Kadriye, the shopping avenue at Land of Legends is close by, with shops and restaurants next to each other, so short walks between them are easy even on a grey day. For a full overview of the malls and how to reach them, see our Antalya shopping malls guide and our shopping centre transfer page.

Antalya Museum, Kaleiçi cafés and the old bazaar

The Antalya Museum is the region's main archaeological museum, with finds from the ancient cities around Antalya. It is a calm, indoor way to understand what you see on sunny days at the ruins along the coast. Please check the opening times before you set off, as they can change by season.

Afterwards, the old town of Kaleiçi is pleasant even in drizzle. Its narrow lanes are full of small cafés where you can sit with Turkish tea or coffee and watch the rain over the rooftops. Just outside the old walls, the covered bazaar streets offer spices, textiles, sweets and souvenirs, with shelter from the rain while you browse. Comfortable shoes with good grip help, since the old stones can be slippery when wet.

A hammam afternoon

A cool, rainy afternoon is the perfect time for a Turkish bath. A hammam visit usually means warmth, steam, a scrub and a foam wash, followed by time to rest and drink tea. It feels especially good when it is grey outside.

You can find historic hammams in and around Kaleiçi, and many resort towns have their own as well. Ask at reception or check directly with the hammam what is offered and whether you need to book. Bring swimwear if you prefer, and keep the rest of the day light – most people feel pleasantly sleepy afterwards.

Düden waterfalls after rain and a day out by private car

One small advantage of rain: rivers carry more water. The Düden waterfalls – the Upper falls in a green park and the Lower falls that drop off the cliffs into the sea near Lara – look especially powerful after a wet spell. Wait for a dry break, take a jacket and be careful on wet paths. Our Düden waterfalls guide explains the two sites.

Another option is a flexible day out by private car. You choose the stops – for example the aquarium in the morning, lunch in Kaleiçi and a quick look at the falls if the sun comes out. Tell us your plan when booking and we will tell you what is possible. For more ideas on off-season holidays, see our winter and off-season guide.

Why a private car helps on rainy days

On a wet day the hardest part is often not the activity but getting there: standing at a bus stop, carrying children and bags, looking for a taxi when everyone else is too. A private transfer removes that.

  • Door to door: the driver picks you up at the hotel entrance and drops you at the door of the aquarium, mall or museum.
  • Fixed price: agreed in advance, per vehicle, not per person – and not changed for traffic or the weather.
  • Space for everyone: Minivan for up to 6, VIP Mercedes-Benz Vito for up to 7 and Mercedes Sprinter for groups of 8–16.
  • Families: child seats are free on request.

You can book 24/7 via WhatsApp or the booking form and receive a fixed-price quote within 1 minute. You pay in the vehicle, with no prepayment, and cancellation is free – useful when the forecast keeps changing.
