İztuzu Beach Transfer: Private Car from Dalaman Airport

İztuzu, often called Turtle Beach, is a strip of fine sand about 4.5 km long that separates the open sea from the reed-lined delta of the Dalyan River. On one side you swim in the Mediterranean, on the other in the calm, warmer water of the river mouth, a combination that makes it popular with families. The sand shelves gently, and the backdrop of green hills keeps the beach free of large hotels.

İztuzu is one of the best-known nesting sites of the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) in Türkiye, and the beach is protected. Nests are marked in season, and visitors are asked to follow the signs and the rules for parasols and access. A sea turtle research and rescue centre also works at the beach.

From Dalaman Airport (DLM) İztuzu is about 29 km away, roughly 35 minutes by road. The route runs west through Ortaca to Dalyan, then follows the scenic road over the hills past Gökbel to the eastern end of the beach.

• From Dalyan town: about 20 minutes on the beach road.
• From Sarıgerme: roughly 40–50 minutes via Ortaca and Dalyan.
• From Köyceğiz: around half an hour via Dalyan.
• From Göcek or Fethiye: a longer drive along the D400; ask us for the exact time.

Your driver drops you at the nearest accessible point at the beach entrance. The western end of the spit is reached by river boat from Dalyan rather than by road; those boats are run locally.

In summer the sand gets very hot by midday, so arriving in the morning or coming back in the late afternoon is the most pleasant way to enjoy the beach. Bring sun protection, a hat, plenty of water and something for shade. Please respect the turtle nests: do not dig near the marked areas and take your rubbish with you.

İztuzu combines easily with Dalyan itself: the view of the Lycian rock tombs carved into the cliffs above the river, the ancient city of Kaunos across the water, and the mud baths and hot springs near Lake Köyceğiz. Dinner by the river in Dalyan is a classic end to the day.
