Gümbet Beach Transfer: How to Get There by Private Car

Gümbet is a resort area about 3 km west of Bodrum town centre, set around a wide, sheltered bay. The beach is sandy, the water in the bay is usually calm, and the shore is lined with hotels, beach clubs, cafés and restaurants. It is a popular spot for water sports such as jet-skiing, banana rides, parasailing and windsurfing, depending on the season and the operators on the beach.

Gümbet is also known for its nightlife: its bars and clubs attract a young crowd in summer, while during the day the beach suits families and anyone who wants everything close at hand. Most sunbeds on the beach belong to hotels and beach clubs.

From Milas-Bodrum Airport (BJV) Gümbet is about 39 km away, roughly 43 minutes by road. The route follows the main Milas–Bodrum road along the Güllük Gulf, then crosses the hills of the peninsula and comes down into the Bodrum area before turning off to Gümbet.

Many guests also come from other parts of the peninsula: Bodrum town is only a few minutes away, Bitez is the next bay to the west, and Ortakent, Turgutreis, Yalıkavak, Gündoğan and Torba are further around the peninsula. In summer the roads around Bodrum can be busy in the evening, so allow some extra time. Your driver drops you at the nearest accessible point to the beach or at your hotel entrance.

In July and August the midday sun is strong, so the morning and late afternoon are the most comfortable times on the sand. Bring sun cream, a hat and water; shade is mostly under the umbrellas of beach clubs. If you want a quieter beach day, go early, before the busiest hours.

Gümbet combines easily with Bodrum town: the Castle of St Peter, the marina and the waterfront are just a short drive away, and the ancient theatre of Halicarnassus overlooks the town. In the evening, many visitors stay on for dinner in Bodrum or for Gümbet's bars.
