Gümbet is the lively bay right next to Bodrum, separated from the town only by a low ridge crowned with old windmills. A long, gently shelving beach curves around the bay, lined with sunbeds, beach bars and water-sports stations, while hotels, apartment blocks and holiday villages climb the slopes behind it. The shallow, sheltered water makes it easy for swimming, and in summer the bay is busy from morning until late at night.

Gümbet is best known as one of the party centres of the Aegean coast: its main street is packed with bars, clubs and restaurants that stay open into the small hours. The route is about 39 km and usually takes around 43 minutes. From the airport the car follows the main road onto the peninsula, past the bay of Güvercinlik and over the hills, then skirts the edge of Bodrum and crosses the ridge down into the Gümbet bay. In high summer the stretch around Bodrum can be slow in the evening, so allow a few extra minutes.

Once you have collected your bags, your driver is waiting in the arrivals hall with a name sign and helps you with your luggage. We track your flight, so if you land early or late the pick-up time moves with it and there is no charge for waiting on delays. Many flights reach Bodrum late at night: night arrivals cost the same as daytime ones, and extra bags carry no luggage fee.

The drive back to the airport takes about 43 minutes, a little more on busy summer days. Be at the airport 2 to 3 hours before an international flight — check your airline's advice. For a 16:00 flight, for example, a pick-up in Gümbet at around 12:15 gives you a relaxed margin. For an early-morning flight, the driver comes at night at no extra cost.
