A long coastal journey, about four hours
The transfer from Kaş to Manavgat is one of the longest on our list: about 260 km, usually around 4 hours on the road. The driver heads east along the coastal road via Demre, Finike and Kumluca, then north past Kemer towards Antalya. After skirting the city, the route continues east on the D400 past Belek and Serik before reaching Manavgat, the town on the Manavgat river just inland from Side.
The first part winds between mountains and sea and is slow but beautiful; from Antalya onwards the road is wide and fast. Traffic around Antalya and in the summer resort towns can add time, so allow a little extra on hot August afternoons.
Two halves of one holiday
Kaş suits a few days of diving, swimming in rocky coves and evenings in a small harbour town. Manavgat and nearby Side offer long sandy beaches, big family hotels, the ancient ruins of Side and the Manavgat waterfall a short drive from town. Combining the two gives you very different scenery in one trip, and the second half is much closer to the airport for your flight home.
Because the drive takes a good part of the day, many guests leave Kaş after breakfast. Rooms at the next hotel are usually ready in the afternoon, so arriving around then works well. If you arrive earlier, ask your hotel in Manavgat about a luggage room or early check-in.
