Termessos at a glance
Termessos is the ancient city that never moved down to the coast. It sits high on a mountain in the Güllük Dağı national park, north-west of Antalya, surrounded by pine forest and rock. Its remote position is the reason it was hard to conquer in antiquity and the reason it feels so wild today: the theatre, cisterns, walls and tombs are scattered across the slopes rather than laid out on a flat plain.
Visitors come for the setting as much as the ruins. Expect an uphill walk on rough, uneven paths once you leave the car, so sturdy shoes, water and a hat make sense. It is a favourite for travellers who have already seen the big coastal sites and want something quieter, and for photographers who like the view across the mountains towards the Gulf of Antalya.

Getting there from Antalya Airport
The drive from Antalya Airport (AYT) is about 38 km and around 55 minutes. The route skirts the northern edge of the city and then leaves the main road for the national park, where the road climbs and winds through the forest. This last part is slow and narrow, which is why a car with an experienced local driver is the easiest way to reach Termessos; there is no simple public transport up the mountain.
If you land and want to go straight there, your driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign. We track your flight, so a delay simply moves the pick-up and the waiting time is free. Most guests, however, start from their hotel: from Lara, Belek, Kemer or Side the trip takes longer, and we tell you the timing when you send us your plan.
Planning your visit: the car waits or comes back
Because Termessos is on a mountain with no taxis waiting at the top, the return must be planned before you set off. Tell us how much time you want for the ruins and we arrange one of two options:
- The driver waits while you walk up and explore, then takes you on to your next stop or back to the hotel.
- The driver comes back at an agreed time, which can suit longer hikes.
The car brings you as far as the road allows; from there the site is explored on foot. Families with small children should allow extra time for the climb, and groups of up to 16 travel together in one Mercedes Sprinter. Send us your date, the number of people and where you are staying, and we reply with what is possible and a fixed price within 1 minute.
Combining Termessos with other sights
A private car makes it easy to turn the visit into a full day. Popular combinations from the same side of Antalya:
- Upper Düden Waterfall in the north of the city, where a short walk leads behind the falling water.
- Kaleiçi, the walled old town, for an evening stroll; the car may stop at the nearest accessible point.
- Konyaaltı beach for a swim after the mountain.
- The Antalya Museum, which helps put the ruins you have seen into context.
Tell us the order you prefer and we plan the route so you are not driving back and forth across the city.
Back to the airport, vehicles and child seats
Some travellers visit Termessos on their arrival or departure day. If you have an international flight, plan to be at Antalya Airport about 2.5 to 3 hours before departure (check your airline's advice) and leave plenty of margin for the walk and the mountain road. You can book both directions, or a day with several stops, in one WhatsApp message.
- Minivan for 1–6 passengers with luggage.
- VIP Mercedes-Benz Vito for 1–7 passengers.
- Mercedes Sprinter for groups of 8–16.
Child and baby seats are free on request. There is no prepayment, cancellation is free, and you pay in the vehicle in cash, or by card if agreed in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take from Antalya Airport to Termessos?
About 55 minutes for roughly 38 km. The last part climbs through the national park on a winding road, so traffic and season can change the time a little.
Can the driver wait while we visit the ruins?
Yes. Tell us how long you want to stay and we agree in advance whether the driver waits or comes back at a set time. This is important because there are no taxis at the top.
Is the price per person?
No. The price is fixed per vehicle, not per person, and includes luggage. You see the current prices for each vehicle in the table on this page.
Is Termessos suitable for children?
Many families visit, but the paths are steep and uneven. We provide free child and baby seats in the car on request; just tell us the children's ages.
How do I book and pay?
Send us your date, pick-up place and number of passengers on WhatsApp, 24/7. You get a fixed price within 1 minute, pay nothing in advance and pay in the vehicle, in cash or by card if agreed.
Can we combine Termessos with the old town or a waterfall?
Yes. A private car with driver can take you to Termessos and then to Upper Düden Waterfall, Kaleiçi or the beach on the same day. Tell us your plan and we tell you what fits.
