Mahmutlar is a seaside district just east of central Alanya, stretching between the mountains and a long, open beach. In a few decades it has grown from a farming village surrounded by banana and citrus groves into one of the largest residential areas on the Alanya coast, known for its many modern apartment complexes and its long seafront promenade.

Alongside holidaymakers in hotels, Mahmutlar is home to a large international community of apartment owners and long-stay visitors, which gives it a lived-in, year-round feel. Shops, cafés, restaurants and a busy weekly market are all within easy reach, and the centre of Alanya with its castle and harbour is a short ride west. Mahmutlar is one of the longer transfers from Antalya Airport: about 137 km, which normally takes around 132 minutes. The route follows the D400 coastal highway east past Serik, Manavgat and the Alanya resort coast, continues through Alanya itself and carries on along the shore to Mahmutlar. Traffic through Alanya can be slower at busy times of day, which is already allowed for in the estimate.

After collecting your luggage, look for your driver in the arrivals hall holding a sign with your name. We follow your flight in real time, so an early or delayed landing simply moves the pick-up, and waiting on delays is free. A late-evening or night arrival costs the same as one in the middle of the day, and extra suitcases come at no extra charge.

Mahmutlar is laid out in long parallel streets between the coastal highway and the mountains. Hotels and beach clubs sit near the shore, while most of the residential complexes rise in the streets behind, many with their own gardens and pools. • Cleopatra Beach and Damlataş Cave – the famous town beach and the cave next to it.
• Dim River – shaded riverside restaurants, a favourite escape on hot days.
• Dim Cave – a large dripstone cave in the hills above the Dim valley.
• Sapadere Canyon – a cool mountain gorge with walkways along the stream.

With more than two hours on the road, the return needs good planning. Aim to be at the airport about 2.5–3 hours before an international flight — check your airline's advice. For an 18:00 flight, for example, a pick-up in Mahmutlar at around 12:30 is a safe choice.
