İncekum Beach Transfer: How to Get There by Private Car

İncekum — literally “fine sand” in Turkish — lies at Avsallar, on the coast roughly 20 km west of Alanya town. The beach lives up to its name: soft, golden sand and a sea that stays shallow for quite a way out, which makes it popular with families with small children. Part of the shore is backed by pine woods, giving welcome shade on hot days, while the rest is lined with hotels and beach clubs.

The area is calmer than central Alanya, with a resort-village feel. If you are not staying here, İncekum makes a relaxed day at the beach, easy to combine with nearby sights along the same stretch of coast.

From Antalya Airport (AYT) İncekum is about 95 km away, roughly 2 hours 10 minutes by road. The route follows the D400 coastal highway east past Belek, Side and Manavgat, then continues along the coast through Okurcalar to Avsallar. The road is a wide main highway almost all the way.

From Alanya town and the eastern districts — Oba, Tosmur, Kestel and Mahmutlar — it is a short drive west along the coast. From Konaklı it is only a few minutes. From Side and the villages to its west, Kumköy, Çolaklı and Evrenseki, the drive is shorter than from the airport. Your driver drops you at the nearest public access point to the beach or at your hotel, and picks you up at the agreed spot.

In July and August, come early in the morning while the sand is still cool, or after about four in the afternoon. The shallow water warms up quickly and is pleasant for children all day, but midday sun on the open sand is strong.

• Bring sunscreen, hats and plenty of water, especially for children.
• A beach umbrella or a spot under the pines makes a big difference.
• Keep a little cash for snacks and drinks at beach cafés.

İncekum combines well with the Seljuk caravanserai of Alara Han and the castle above it, a short drive west near Okurcalar, or with an afternoon in Alanya town with its castle and harbour. Side's ancient city and the Manavgat waterfall are also within reach.
