Cleopatra Island Transfer: Private Car to the Sedir Boats

Sedir Island is a small island in the Gulf of Gökova, part of the Marmaris district of Muğla. It is famous for its beach of fine, rounded, golden-white grains. A popular legend says Mark Antony had the sand brought from North Africa for Cleopatra; whatever the truth, the sand is unusual and is strictly protected. Visitors may not take any sand away, and access to parts of the beach can be restricted to protect it.

Beyond the beach, the island holds the remains of Kedrai, an ancient city with a small theatre, city walls and other ruins scattered among olive trees.

Please note: we drive you to the pier where the boats to the island leave. The boat crossing or boat trip is booked with a local operator.

From Dalaman Airport (DLM) the Marmaris area is about 96 km away, roughly 95 minutes by road. The route runs west through Ortaca and Köyceğiz to the Gökova junction, where you turn towards Marmaris. Boats to the island usually leave from small piers on the Gökova coast, such as Çamlı and Taşbükü, which are a short boat ride from the island; day boats also run from Marmaris. Tell us which pier your boat leaves from and we take you there.

Guests also come from Marmaris town, İçmeler, Akyaka and Turunç. From Marmaris and Akyaka it is a fairly short drive; from Dalyan or Fethiye plan for a longer trip. The driver drops you at the nearest accessible point to the pier.

Go early in summer: the first boats of the morning reach the island before the midday heat and the busiest hours. Bring sun cream, a hat, water and comfortable shoes for walking among the ruins, and remember to rinse sand off your feet and towel before you leave, as no sand may be taken.

Tell us your boat's departure and return times when you book. If you have time on the way back, you can stop in Akyaka on the Gökova shore or spend the evening on the Marmaris waterfront.

If you are staying in Marmaris, İçmeler or Turunç, we meet you in the arrivals hall at Dalaman Airport with a name sign and drive you straight to your hotel. We track your flight and wait free of charge if it is delayed; there is no night surcharge and no luggage fee.

On your return day, plan to be at the airport 2–3 hours before an international flight; check your airline's advice. The drive back from Marmaris takes about an hour and a half, so we agree a comfortable pick-up time with you when you book.
