Paragliding in Alanya at a glance
Alanya is one of the best-known places for tandem paragliding on the Turkish Riviera. The mountains rise steeply right behind the town, so after a short drive uphill you take off several hundred metres above the sea. From the air you look down on the long sandy beaches, the rocky peninsula crowned by Alanya Castle, the harbour with the octagonal Red Tower (Kızıl Kule) and the turquoise water along the coast, before gliding down to land near the beach, usually in the Cleopatra Beach area.
You fly in tandem: a professional pilot sits behind you, steers the glider and handles the take-off and landing, so no experience is needed. Your job is to run a few steps at launch when the pilot tells you, then sit back in the harness and enjoy the view. It is an unforgettable experience for adventurous couples and friends, and a calm, smooth flight surprises many people who are nervous about heights. Flights depend on the wind, and the pilots decide on the spot whether conditions are safe.
Booking
How the day runs
- Hotel pickup: our driver collects you from your hotel. From Antalya and Lara the drive to Alanya takes around two hours or more; from Side and Manavgat it is shorter.
- Meeting the pilots: in Alanya you meet the paragliding team, who check your weight, explain the flight and fit the harness and helmet.
- Mountain launch: a vehicle takes you up the mountain road to the take-off point. After a short run you are in the air.
- The flight: you glide over the coast with views of the castle, the harbour and the beaches. The pilot decides the flight time according to the wind.
- Coastal landing and return: you land by the beach, and later we drive you back to your hotel.
The whole programme takes about 10–12 hours. Much of this is the drive along the coast, and waiting for the right wind and your flight slot is normal. The remaining time is usually spent in Alanya; the exact plan is confirmed when you book.
Good to know before you fly
- Clothing: wear trainers or other closed shoes with grip, comfortable trousers or shorts and a light jacket, as it is cooler at the launch site. Sunglasses with a strap are useful.
- Safety: follow the pilot's instructions at all times, especially during the take-off run and the landing. The equipment and briefing are provided by the paragliding team.
- Weight, age and health: weight and age limits are confirmed when you book. Paragliding is not recommended during pregnancy or with heart conditions, recent injuries or serious back problems.
- Weather: strong wind, rain or poor visibility can delay or stop flights; the pilots make that decision for your safety.
- Photos: do not hold a loose phone during the flight. Ask the team on site about photo and video options.
Pickup and transport
We pick you up from your hotel and bring you back after the paragliding day. Pickup is possible from the resorts of the Antalya region, including Lara, Kundu, Konyaaltı, Belek, Side, Manavgat, Kemer and Alanya itself. Because the drive to Alanya is long from the western resorts, the pickup time depends heavily on your hotel area and is given when you book.
You travel in our own vehicles: a VW Caravelle-class minivan, a VIP Mercedes-Benz Vito or a Mercedes Sprinter for larger groups. A private option for your group only can be requested, and child seats are free on request for family members travelling along.
