Patara Transfer from Antalya Airport

Patara lies on the western edge of Antalya province, a short way west of Kalkan. It is famous for two things: one of the longest sandy beaches in Turkey, backed by high dunes and stretching for many kilometres, and the ruins of ancient Patara, once the main port of the Lycian League and said to be the birthplace of St Nicholas.

The beach is a protected nesting site for loggerhead sea turtles, so it has no hotels on the sand and remains wild and natural. Visitors stay in the small village of Gelemiş, just behind the ruins. Patara attracts nature lovers, walkers, families who prefer a simple village atmosphere, and travellers interested in history who want to combine the beach with ancient sites.

The transfer from Antalya Airport (AYT) to Patara is about 225 km and takes around 210 minutes. It is one of the longest routes we drive. The road follows the coast past Kemer, crosses the mountains to Kumluca and Finike, passes Demre and then runs along the cliffs to Kaş and Kalkan, with beautiful sea views on the way. Shortly after Kalkan the vehicle leaves the main road for Gelemiş.

Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign, helps with your luggage and leads you to the vehicle. We track your flight, so delays are no problem and waiting on them is free. The price is fixed per vehicle and agreed before you travel, with no night surcharge and no luggage fee, which matters on a long late-evening drive.

Almost all accommodation is in and around the village of Gelemiş, a short distance from the beach and the ruins:

• family pensions and small hotels in the village centre;
• guesthouses and bungalows in gardens on the slopes above the valley;
• village houses and holiday homes in the surrounding countryside.

The driver takes you to the entrance of your accommodation. Please send us its name or a location pin on WhatsApp when you book. On narrow village lanes the vehicle stops at the nearest accessible point and the driver helps with your bags.

The ancient city lies between the village and the beach. Highlights include the theatre, the restored assembly hall of the Lycian League, a long colonnaded street and the ancient lighthouse near the old harbour. Beyond the ruins, the beach and dunes invite long walks, and the Lycian Way passes nearby.

With a private car and driver you can explore the wider area:

• Xanthos and Letoon, two Lycian sites listed by UNESCO;
• Saklıkent Gorge, a narrow canyon with an icy mountain stream;
• the harbour towns of Kalkan and Kaş;
• the boat trips around Kekova further east.

Allow around 210 minutes for the drive back and aim to be at Antalya Airport about 2.5–3 hours before an international flight; please check your airline's advice. For a flight at 18:00, for example, a pick-up in Patara at around 11:30 is sensible. Because of the distance, we strongly recommend booking the return together with your arrival.
