Konakli is a small resort town on the western approach to Alanya, set between the sea and the steep, green slopes of the Taurus Mountains. Where the mountains come down close to the shore, the coast breaks into a series of beaches and little bays, and the town has grown up along both sides of the coastal road.

It has a friendly, village-like centre with shops, restaurants and a weekly market, and a seafront that is easy to walk. Konakli is popular with families and couples looking for a quieter base than Alanya itself, while still being only a short drive from the city's castle, harbour and nightlife. Alongside the hotels there are many holiday apartments, so you will also meet long-stay visitors and returning homeowners here.

The distance is about 117 km and the transfer normally takes around 120 minutes. From the airport the route follows the D400 coastal highway east the whole way: past Serik, Manavgat and the resorts of Okurcalar and Avsallar, until you reach Konakli. In the last part the road runs between the mountains and the sea, with views over the bays.

Once you are through baggage claim, your driver will be waiting in the arrivals hall with a sign bearing your name. He helps with your luggage and walks you to the car. Your flight is tracked, so if it is early or late the driver simply adjusts, and there is no charge for waiting on delays. The price for a night landing is exactly the same as during the day, and luggage is always included.

Many of the larger hotels sit right by the water, some with their own beach areas or platforms, while others are on the inland side of the highway with access to the shore. The town centre and the hillside streets have smaller hotels, apartment blocks and holiday villas. As hotels on both sides of the road can look similar, please give us the exact name when you book.

• Alarahan – a historic Seljuk caravanserai near Okurcalar, beneath the ruins of Alara castle.
• Dim River – restaurants on the riverbank east of Alanya, a cool option in summer.

Plan your departure carefully: you should be at Antalya Airport about 2.5–3 hours before an international flight — check your airline's advice. For an evening flight at 20:00, for example, a pick-up from Konakli at around 14:45 leaves enough time for the two-hour drive and check-in.
