The drive from Antalya Airport (AYT) to Kaleiçi is about 16 km and takes around 25 minutes, following the main city boulevards towards the centre. At busy times of day the city traffic can add a few minutes.

Your arrival step by step:

• We track your flight, so the driver is there for the real landing time; waiting on delays is free.
• After baggage claim he waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign.
• He helps load your luggage and takes you into the city.

Kaleiçi is different from a beach resort, and it is worth knowing how the last few metres work. Many lanes inside the walls are very narrow, some are pedestrian-only and some are closed to traffic at certain times. Where a car cannot reach the door, the driver stops at the nearest accessible point, and the last stretch is a short walk along the cobbles.

• If you travel with heavy suitcases, ask your hotel in advance whether staff can meet you at the car.
• For apartments or rooms booked privately, share the address and any instructions from your host.

The old town itself deserves a slow wander — the harbour, the walls, the small museums and the sunset views. With a private car you can easily add well-known sights nearby:

• Antalya Museum — one of Turkey's major archaeological museums, at the start of Konyaaltı.
• Konyaaltı and Lara beaches — the city's two long beaches, west and east.
• Düden Waterfalls — the lower falls tumble off the cliffs straight into the sea.
• Perge and Aspendos — an ancient city and a famous Roman theatre east of Antalya.
• Termessos — mountain ruins in a national park north-west of the city.
• Kemer coast — beaches, the marina and Göynük Canyon to the west.

Boat trips along the cliffs also leave from the old harbour.

Be at the airport about 2.5–3 hours before an international flight; check your airline's advice. The drive is short, but allow for city traffic and the walk to the pick-up point: for a 14:00 flight a pick-up at around 10:15 is typical. We agree the exact meeting point at the edge of the old town with you in advance.

It is easiest to book both directions together. Vehicles:
