Antalya Honeymoon Guide: Best Areas and Ideas for Couples

The Antalya coast offers very different kinds of romance within a few hours of one airport: a historic walled old town, long sandy beaches with big resorts, pine-covered bays below the mountains and small harbour towns on the Lycian coast. You can mix a few lazy resort days with sunsets, boat trips and ancient ruins without long internal flights.

The most important decision is the style of your trip: lively and cultural, quiet and scenic, or all-inclusive comfort. The areas below match those three moods. Many couples also split the trip, for example a few nights in Kaleiçi followed by a week at a beach resort, which is easy to arrange with one private car between the two hotels.

Kaleiçi is Antalya's old town, a maze of narrow lanes, restored Ottoman houses and Roman walls running down to the old harbour. Many small boutique hotels are set in historic houses, and the evenings are made for walking: through Hadrian's Gate, along the cliff-top parks and down to the harbour as the sun sets over the bay and the mountains.

On the Lycian coast to the west, Kaş and Kalkan are small, scenic towns built on slopes above the sea. Instead of huge resorts you find smaller hotels, villas and terrace restaurants looking out over the water and the Greek island of Meis (Kastellorizo) near Kaş. Swimming is often from rocky platforms and coves, and the famous Kaputaş beach lies on the coast road between the two towns.

If you want to arrive, check in quickly and switch off, the large luxury resorts of Lara (≈ 20 min from the airport) and Belek (≈ 40 min) are the easiest choice. They are on long sandy beaches, and you can stay on site for days or take short trips into Antalya.

Some hotels in the region are adults-only; if a child-free atmosphere matters to you, check this when you book, as it differs from hotel to hotel. Kemer and the quieter villages south of it, such as Tekirova and Çamyuva, are another good option, with pine forests and mountains right behind the beach.

• Phaselis: the ancient city near Tekirova lies around small bays where you can combine ruins and a swim in pine-shaded coves.
• Kaputaş beach: a small, turquoise cove between Kaş and Kalkan, reached by steps from the coast road.
• An evening at Aspendos: the Roman theatre between Antalya and Side hosts open-air opera and ballet evenings in season.

Book your return transfer together with the arrival so you do not have to think about it during the trip. Plan the departure time with your flight and the distance in mind: from Kaleiçi or Lara the drive is short, while from Kaş or Kalkan you need to leave several hours earlier.
