The tour at a glance
Pirate boats are a classic of the Antalya coast: wooden ships dressed up with masts, flags and figureheads, with wide sun decks and a relaxed party mood. This tour sails along the Lara side of the bay, where the city's limestone cliffs drop straight into deep blue water and the Taurus Mountains rise behind the coast.
- Lara coastline – the cliffs east of the city centre, with small caves and rocky coves at the waterline.
- Düden waterfall from the sea – the Lower Düden falls pour about 40 metres off the cliff into the Mediterranean; from the boat you see them from below.
- Swim stops – the boat anchors in clear water so you can jump in from the deck or climb down the ladder.
- Pirate boat atmosphere – music, games and entertainment on deck; on many pirate boats there is a foam party in summer, and what happens on board varies by boat and season.
- Lunch and soft drinks – as stated in the tour name; please confirm the details when you book.
The tour suits families with children, groups of friends and anyone who wants an easy, cheerful day on the water without long drives.
Booking
How the day runs
Count on about 6 to 7 hours door to door. The exact route and the swim spots are chosen by the captain on the day according to the wind and the sea, so a typical day looks like this rather than following a fixed timetable:
- Pickup from your hotel and drive to the harbour where the boat departs.
- Boarding and departure along the coast.
- Cruise past the cliffs of Lara and the Düden waterfall, with a pause for photos when the sea allows.
- Two or three swim stops in open bays.
- Lunch on board and time to relax on the sun deck while music and games run.
- Back to the harbour in the afternoon and return drive to your hotel.
Good to know
Wear your swimsuit under light clothes and bring a towel, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat: on deck the sun is strong and the sea reflects it. Rubber-soled shoes are better than smooth sandals on a wet deck. Bring a light top for the breeze on the way back. If you get seasick easily, take your usual remedy before boarding; the sea is usually calm in summer, but wind can make it choppy.
Children should wear life jackets in the water if they are not strong swimmers, and keep an eye on them at the rails. Jumping from the boat is only for confident swimmers and only where the crew allows it. A waterproof pouch for your phone is handy for photos of the falls. The pace is gentle, so older travellers enjoy the day too, though steep boarding ladders can be tricky for anyone with limited mobility.
Pickup and transport
We pick you up from your hotel and bring you back after the boat trip, from all resorts of the Antalya region – Lara, Kundu, Konyaaltı, Belek, Side, Kemer, Alanya and the villages in between; from Side or Alanya the drive to the harbour is naturally longer. The pickup time depends on where your hotel is and is given to you when you book.
You travel in our own vehicles: a minivan of the VW Caravelle class, a VIP Mercedes-Benz Vito or a Mercedes Sprinter for larger parties. A private transfer with only your own group in the vehicle can be asked for. Child seats are free on request.
