The tour at a glance

The Düden River rises in the Taurus foothills, disappears underground in the limestone and comes back to the surface north of Antalya before flowing through the city to the coast. Along the way it forms two very different waterfalls, and this tour shows you both in one easy morning or afternoon.

Upper Düden (Yukarı Düden) lies in a green park with plane trees, footbridges and picnic areas. The water falls over a wide rock step into a pool, and a path with steps leads down into a cool grotto behind the curtain of water, a favourite spot on hot days.

Lower Düden (Karpuzkaldıran), near Lara, is the more dramatic sight: the river plunges about 40 metres from the edge of the cliffs directly into the Mediterranean. From the park on top you look down on the falls and the spray, and boats on the sea below often stop for a view from the water.

Between the two, the route follows the falez, the cliff coast of Antalya formed of travertine rock, with photo points over the bay and the Beydağları mountains. The tour suits families, older travellers and anyone with only a few hours to spare.

How the day runs

The trip takes about 4 hours from pickup to drop-off for hotels in and around Antalya. A typical flow:

  • Pickup from your hotel. From Lara, Kundu, Konyaaltı or the city the drive is short; from Belek or Kemer it adds time, and from Side or Alanya the trip is considerably longer than four hours in total.
  • Visit to Upper Düden: the park, the waterfall and the grotto path.
  • Drive towards the coast with a stop at a viewpoint on the cliffs.
  • Visit to Lower Düden and the cliff-top park above the falls.
  • Drive back to your hotel.

The order of the stops may change with traffic and the time of day. Mornings and late afternoons are cooler and less busy.

Good to know

  • Wear shoes with a good grip. The steps and path behind the Upper Düden waterfall are wet and can be slippery.
  • In summer bring a hat, sun cream and water; Lower Düden has little shade.
  • The falls carry the most water in winter and spring; in late summer the flow is lower but still pretty.
  • Keep children close at the cliff-top viewpoints and stay behind the railings.
  • Walking is short and easy apart from the grotto steps, which older travellers can skip if they prefer.
  • A phone or camera with a protective cover is handy near the spray.

What is included (entrance tickets, meals, equipment) is confirmed when you book.
