The tour at a glance
Cappadocia, in the heart of Anatolia, is a landscape shaped by ancient volcanoes. Thick layers of ash hardened into soft tuff, and wind and water carved it into cones, pillars and valleys; people then dug homes, churches and whole towns into the rock. The area, with Göreme National Park and its rock sites, has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1985. It is far from the coast, so this tour suits travellers who want to see it without arranging flights and hotels themselves and who are comfortable with two long days on the road.
- Göreme panorama – a viewpoint over the valley of Göreme, with rock cones and cave houses spread out below and the castle-like rock of Uçhisar on the horizon.
- Fairy chimneys – the famous mushroom-shaped pillars, some with a darker cap of harder rock, in valleys such as Paşabağı and Devrent.
- Underground city – one of the multi-level cities carved deep into the soft rock, such as Kaymaklı or Derinkuyu, where people once sheltered with their animals and food stores, behind heavy rolling stone doors.
- Optional balloon flight – at sunrise, dozens of balloons rise over the valleys. Flights are arranged separately with a licensed balloon operator and depend on the weather on the morning itself.

How the two days run
Be prepared for long drives: Cappadocia is roughly eight hours from the Antalya coast by road each way, including rest stops, and longer from Alanya. A typical plan:
- Day 1 – early pickup from your hotel and drive north over the Taurus Mountains and across the wide Konya plain, with breaks on the way; arrival in Cappadocia in the afternoon or evening, a first look at the landscape if time allows and an overnight stay in the region.
- Day 2 – a very early start for those who booked a balloon flight; then the Göreme panorama, the fairy chimney valleys and an underground city, with a lunch break; in the afternoon the long drive back to the coast, arriving at your hotel late at night.
Where you stay overnight and the exact order of the visits are confirmed when you book.
Good to know
Cappadocia lies high on the Anatolian plateau, so mornings and evenings are much cooler than on the coast, and winters are cold with snow possible. Bring layers, a warm jacket outside summer, comfortable walking shoes, sunglasses and sunscreen. The underground cities have low, narrow passages and steep steps – you often have to bend down, so they are not ideal for anyone with claustrophobia, back or knee problems.
Balloon flights are only allowed in calm weather and can be cancelled at short notice; the balloon operator sets its own rules for children and fitness, and you should follow the pilot's instructions. The many hours in the vehicle make this tour better for older children than for toddlers.
Pickup and transport
We pick you up from your hotel and bring you back at the end of the second day, from all resorts of the Antalya region – Lara, Kundu, Konyaaltı, Belek, Side, Kemer, Alanya and the places in between. The pickup time depends on your hotel area and is given to you when you book.
You travel in our own vehicles: a minivan of the VW Caravelle class, a VIP Mercedes-Benz Vito or a Mercedes Sprinter for larger groups. For a trip this long, a private version with only your own group and your own pace is very popular – just ask. Child seats are free on request.
