The tour at a glance
This tour leaves the coast behind and climbs into the green valleys of the Taurus Mountains in the İbradı area, a world of pine forests, gorges and old mountain villages. It suits nature lovers, photographers and travellers who have already seen the beaches and ancient sites and want something quieter.
- Altınbeşik Cave – a cave in the valley of the Manavgat river near the village of Ürünlü, protected as a national park since 1994. Inside lies an underground lake, among the largest in Turkey, with clear green water, and further passages with stalactites and sinter terraces.
- Cave boat ride – the lake section is visited by small boat, gliding into the cave over the still water. Boat rides depend on the water level and the season; after heavy rain or snowmelt the cave can be closed, in which case the programme is adjusted.
- Ormana village – a mountain village known for its traditional houses, built of stone with horizontal timber beams set into the walls, narrow lanes and old fountains. The village gives a picture of highland life in the Taurus that has changed little over generations.
- Lunch – a lunch break in the mountains is part of the day; whether a meal is included is confirmed when you book.

How the day runs
The tour takes about 8 hours door to door. The mountains are a real drive from the coast: the road leads inland past Manavgat and then winds up through the valleys, so expect a good share of the day in the vehicle, with scenery along the way. A typical day looks like this:
- Pickup from your hotel and drive towards Manavgat and into the mountains.
- Arrival at Ürünlü and a short walk on a path with steps to the cave entrance.
- Visit to Altınbeşik Cave, with the boat ride on the underground lake when conditions allow.
- Lunch break in the mountains.
- Walk through Ormana and its traditional houses.
- Return drive down to the coast and to your hotel.
Good to know
Wear sturdy shoes with a good grip: the path to the cave has steps and can be uneven, and inside the cave the ground is wet and slippery in places. The cave and the mountain villages are noticeably cooler than the coast, so bring a light jacket even in summer.
The winding mountain road can affect travellers prone to motion sickness; sitting at the front and taking a remedy beforehand helps. In the cave, follow the instructions of the staff and stay seated in the boat. Photography is possible, but the light is low, so a steady hand helps. The walking is moderate; children enjoy the boat ride, while travellers with limited mobility should know about the steps to the cave before booking.
