İçmeler is a resort bay just south-west of Marmaris, tucked beneath steep, pine-covered hills that come almost down to the sea. It has a long beach of sand and fine shingle, a tidy seafront promenade and a compact village centre with shops, restaurants and cafés a few minutes from the water.

Compared with busy Marmaris, İçmeler feels calmer and more relaxed, which is why it is especially popular with families with children, couples and older guests who want a quiet beach holiday while still being close to the town's marina, bazaar and nightlife. Many visitors come back year after year, and the bay is busiest from late spring to early autumn.

The transfer is about 103 km and usually takes around 105 minutes. The road heads west across the Dalaman plain, passes Ortaca and Köyceğiz, then winds through forested hills down into Marmaris. From there it follows the bay around to İçmeler, so the final stretch gives you a first view of the water and the yachts.

When you come out of baggage claim, your driver is waiting in the arrivals hall with your name on a sign and helps with your bags. We track your flight, so a delay or an early landing is no problem and waiting on delays is free. A late-night arrival costs the same as one in the afternoon, and there are no luggage fees for extra suitcases, pushchairs or sports equipment.

İçmeler is small, but hotels are spread from the beach up the hillsides, so please share your exact address:

• On the beachfront – hotels directly on the promenade, steps from the sand.
• The village centre – apartments and smaller hotels in the streets just behind the beach, close to shops and restaurants.
• On the slopes – larger resorts and holiday apartments higher up, with views over the bay.

The driver takes you to the entrance of your hotel. A few lanes in the centre are narrow or close to pedestrian areas; there the car stops at the nearest point it can reach, usually just a short walk away.

From İçmeler you can explore the whole Marmaris area:

• Marmaris town – the marina, the old quarter below the castle, the bazaar and Bar Street, only a short drive away.
• Turunç – the smaller, quieter bay beyond İçmeler, reached by a winding hill road.
• Boat trips – daily cruises to the coves and islands around the bay.
• The Datça peninsula – long and narrow, with quiet villages and clear water.
• Dalyan – the river, the Lycian rock tombs and İztuzu turtle beach.

The return takes around 105 minutes. Plan to be at Dalaman Airport about 2–3 hours before an international flight — check your airline's advice. For a 15:00 departure, for example, a pick-up in İçmeler at around 10:15 is a sensible time; in the busy summer weeks we may suggest leaving a little earlier.
