Tahtalı Cable Car Tour to the 2,365 m Summit near Kemer

Tahtalı Dağı is the highest peak of the Beydağları range directly above the sea, inside the Olympos Beydağları Coastal National Park. In ancient times it was known as Mount Olympos of Lycia, and the ruins of Olympos and Phaselis lie at its feet. The Olympos cable car (Olympos Teleferik) starts in the pine forest above Tekirova and climbs more than four kilometres to the summit, one of the longest cable car lines in Turkey.

The ride itself takes around ten minutes. As the cabin rises, the forest gives way to bare limestone, and on clear days the view from the top stretches along the whole Kemer coast, over the Gulf of Antalya and inland across the Taurus Mountains. At the summit there is a panoramic terrace and a café-restaurant area where you can spend time at your own pace.

The tour suits couples, families, photographers and anyone who would like to see the region from above without hiking. Many visitors enjoy the contrast: a hot beach in the morning and fresh mountain air an hour later.

The trip takes about 5 to 6 hours door to door. A typical flow:

• Pickup from your hotel and the drive along the coast road to the lower cable car station above Tekirova. From Kemer, Beldibi or Çamyuva this is a short drive; from Antalya city or Lara it takes longer, and from Belek or Side it is a longer trip each way.
• The cable car ride up to the summit station.
• Free time on the summit: the viewing terrace, photos and a drink or a meal at the top if you wish.
• The ride down and the drive back to your hotel.

The cable car can stop running in strong wind or poor visibility. If the weather does not allow the ride, we will discuss another date or option with you.

• The summit is much cooler than the coast, often 10 to 15 degrees colder, and windy. Bring a jacket or warm layer even in summer. In spring there can still be snow at the top.
• Wear closed shoes; the terrace area is easy to walk, but the ground around it is rocky.
• The sun is strong at altitude: use sun cream, sunglasses and a hat.
• The views are clearest in the morning and on dry days; haze can reduce visibility in the hottest weeks.
• Children enjoy the ride. People with a strong fear of heights or heart conditions may want to think about the altitude before booking.
