The tour at a glance

Kaleiçi is the historic heart of Antalya: a quarter of narrow lanes inside the old city walls, entered through the marble Hadrian's Gate built around 130 AD, with Ottoman-era houses, wooden bay windows and the fluted Yivli Minaret from the Seljuk period above the rooftops. Around it, the old bazaar streets near the clock tower are where locals still buy spices, dried fruit, nuts, olives and sweets. This walk explores the town through its food rather than its monuments alone.

  • Local tastings – depending on the day and the stops, typical bites of the region such as simit, gözleme, Antalya's tahini-dressed bean salad (piyaz), grilled köfte, olives and cheeses.
  • Old bazaar – spice stalls, dried fruit and nut shops, Turkish delight counters and the everyday bustle of the market streets.
  • Traditional sweets – baklava, künefe, lokum or seasonal desserts, together with Turkish tea or coffee.
  • Guided city walk – the stories behind the gate, the walls, the harbour and the old houses as you go.

It suits curious eaters, couples, families and anyone who wants a different view of Antalya between beach days.

How the walk runs

The tour takes about 4–5 hours including the transfers. A typical flow looks like this, although the stops change with the day, the season and what the local shops are serving:

  • Pickup from your hotel and drive into Antalya city centre.
  • Start of the walk near Hadrian's Gate or the clock tower, then into the bazaar streets.
  • Several short tasting stops at small bakeries, street-food counters and sweet shops, with time to look around and take photos.
  • A stroll through Kaleiçi down towards the old harbour, with tea or coffee along the way.
  • Return drive to your hotel.

The tastings are spread across the walk, so come with an appetite but not on an empty stomach in the heat.

Good to know

Kaleiçi is paved with old stones, slopes down to the harbour and has steps in places, so wear comfortable, closed shoes. In summer the midday heat is strong: bring a hat, sunscreen and water, and choose light clothing. If you or anyone in your group has a food allergy, is vegetarian or avoids certain foods, tell us when you book so it can be taken into account where possible.

The pace is gentle and the distances short, so the walk suits children and older travellers; anyone who finds the slopes tiring can rest at the tasting stops. Photography is welcome in the lanes and the market; ask before photographing shopkeepers. Some cash is handy if you want to buy spices or sweets to take home.

Pickup and transport

We pick you up from your hotel and bring you back after the walk, from the resorts of the Antalya region – Lara, Kundu, Konyaaltı, Belek, Side, Kemer, Alanya and the places in between; from the far ends of the coast the drive is naturally longer. The pickup time depends on where your hotel is and is given to you when you book.

You travel in our own vehicles: a minivan of the VW Caravelle class, a VIP Mercedes-Benz Vito or a Mercedes Sprinter for larger parties. If you prefer a private version with only your own group, just ask. Child seats are free on request.

Booking

Book 24/7 on WhatsApp or through the booking form. We send you a fixed price within 1 minute; there is no prepayment and cancellation is free. You pay in the vehicle on the day, in cash or by card if agreed. What is included (entrance tickets, meals, equipment) is confirmed when you book, including which tastings are part of the walk. Need an airport transfer as well? Combine it with the tour in the same booking.
