The tour at a glance
This route mixes sightseeing with everyday city life. You see the historic heart of Antalya, the river falling into the sea and the harbour from the water, and you also get time to browse a local market the way residents do. It suits first-time visitors, families and anyone who wants a city day with some shopping built in.
- Old town streets – Kaleiçi, the walled quarter above the harbour, with narrow lanes, restored Ottoman houses with wooden bay windows and small craft shops. Hadrian's Gate, the Roman marble gate built around 130 AD, and the fluted Yivli Minaret are among its landmarks.
- Waterfall stop – the Düden waterfalls, where the river flows through a green park or, at Lara, drops off the cliffs straight into the Mediterranean; which falls you visit depends on the programme.
- Harbour boat ride – a short trip from the old harbour along the city's cliffs, with views of the walls and the Taurus Mountains across the bay.
- Local market time – free time at a local market or bazaar, with stalls of fruit, spices, dried fruit and nuts, textiles and souvenirs.
Booking
How the day runs
The tour takes about 6 to 8 hours door to door, depending on your hotel's location and the season. The order of the stops can change, but a typical day looks like this:
- Pickup from your hotel and drive to Antalya.
- Walk through Kaleiçi, entering through Hadrian's Gate, with time for photos and a coffee.
- Boat ride from the old harbour along the coast.
- Stop at the Düden waterfalls.
- Free time at a local market for shopping and a snack.
- Return drive to your hotel in the afternoon.
The day is unhurried, with short walks between the stops and the vehicle waiting nearby.
Good to know
Wear comfortable shoes: the old stone lanes of Kaleiçi slope down towards the harbour and have steps in places. In the warm months bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and water, as the midday sun in the city is strong. A light layer is useful on the boat outside summer.
At the market, prices are often negotiable for souvenirs and textiles, while fruit and food usually have fixed prices; carry some cash in small notes and keep your bag closed in crowded aisles. Ask before photographing stallholders. Mosques in the old town can be visited with shoulders and knees covered. The tour is easy-going and suits children and older travellers; keep small children close at the cliff edges by the falls.
Pickup and transport
We pick you up from your hotel and bring you back after the tour, from all resorts of the Antalya region – Lara, Kundu, Konyaaltı, Belek, Side, Kemer, Alanya and the villages in between. From the far ends of the coast the drive into the city is longer. The pickup time depends on where your hotel is and is given to you when you book.
You travel in our own vehicles: a minivan of the VW Caravelle class, a VIP Mercedes-Benz Vito or a Mercedes Sprinter for larger parties. Your shopping bags stay safely in the vehicle. If you prefer a private version with only your group on board, just ask. Child seats are free on request.
