The tour at a glance
Manavgat is the river town just inland from Side, and this tour shows its three classic sides: the river, the waterfall and the market. It is an easy, relaxed day rather than a sightseeing marathon, and it suits families with children, couples and older travellers alike.
- Manavgat river boat – the Manavgat river flows down from the Taurus Mountains, its water cool and blue-green, and the boat trip follows it through reed banks, fields and riverside villages towards the point where it meets the Mediterranean. Near the mouth a narrow strip of sand separates the river from the sea; whether there is a stop there, and the exact route, depend on the boat and the day.
- Manavgat waterfall – a few kilometres north of the town the river spreads over a low, wide rock step and falls in many small cascades. It is not tall, but it is broad and loud, with shady paths, viewing terraces and tea gardens beside the water.
- Bazaar visit – Manavgat's bazaar is a lively local market with fruit and vegetables, spices, dried fruit and nuts, olives, cheeses, textiles and household goods – a good place to see everyday life and pick up souvenirs.
Booking
How the day runs
The tour takes about 7 to 9 hours door to door, depending mainly on how far your hotel is from Manavgat. Guests from Side and Manavgat have a short drive; from Antalya, Lara or Kemer the drive along the coast is considerably longer. A typical day looks like this, although the order can change:
- Pickup from your hotel and drive to Manavgat.
- Free time at the bazaar for shopping and a look around.
- The boat trip on the river towards the sea, a calm cruise with time to relax on deck.
- A break for lunch.
- Visit to the Manavgat waterfall, with time for photos and a tea by the water.
- Return drive to your hotel in the afternoon.
Good to know
This is a light day without long walks. Bring a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen, as there is little shade on the open boat deck, and carry water. If a swimming stop is possible, swimwear and a towel are useful; a light layer helps on the river in spring and autumn. Comfortable sandals or trainers are fine for the waterfall paths, which can be wet near the water.
At the bazaar, carry cash in small notes; bargaining is usual for textiles and souvenirs, less so for food. Keep your bag closed in the busy aisles and ask before photographing stallholders. On the boat, children should stay seated and follow the crew's instructions. The tour suits all ages, including small children and older travellers.
Pickup and transport
We pick you up from your hotel and bring you back after the tour, from all resorts of the Antalya region – Side, Manavgat, Kızılağaç, Kumköy, Belek, Lara, Kemer, Alanya and the villages in between. The pickup time depends on where your hotel is and is given to you when you book.
You travel in our own vehicles: a minivan of the VW Caravelle class, a VIP Mercedes-Benz Vito or a Mercedes Sprinter for larger parties. Your shopping from the bazaar stays safely in the vehicle. If you prefer a private version with only your own group on board, just ask. Child seats are free on request.
